Continenten

Inspired by the works of filmdirector Michael Haneke and painter Edward Hopper, Mart created Continenten: a painterly, textless performance about the madness of everyday life.

The performance shows the life of two people trying to hold onto their daily routine, while their dark and violent desires become more and more difficult to restrain. Within the four walls of their living room, the boundaries between human and beast turn out to be unbearably thin. What happens when the surface layer of civilized behaviour starts to crack? Continenten is a feverish, visual trip that is as aesthetic as it is terrifying.

The performance was on tour in 2019 and 2020.
